gum·bo n. pl. gum·bos:
A thick, robust roux-based soup sometimes thickened with okra or file'. With a consistency between a soup and a stew, gumbo is derived from the African Bantu word for okra.
Simmered gently with spicy seasoning, gumbos take their name from the main seafood or meat ingredient and are usually served over wild rice.
There are thousands of variations, such as shrimp or seafood gumbo, chicken or duck gumbo, okra and file' gumbo.
As with the Gumbo that you eat can be made with just about anything so then "The Sunday Gumbo" can consist of just about any musical genre.
Growing up in central Mississippi there was a commercial radio station WZZQ that had a DJ by the name of David Adcock who produced a show on Sundays called "Tunes 'Til Two".
The show was based on classic rock, relying on the album rock repertoire from the 60's and 70's. He also include new releases from those classic rock artists who are still producing, like Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, etc. The show usually contained a fair amount of blues, and some of the hits people knew and loved.
Now don't get me wrong in no way, shape, form, or fashion should I be considered as to be in the same league Mr. Adcock.
What I am trying to do is create for you the same feeling of laid back musical enjoyment I remember while listening to "Tunes 'Til Two" on Sunday's, kicked back on the front porch cup of coffee in hand letting the day come to me.
